What are the Benefits of Online Orientation?

| 1 minute read

Our online orientation is an opportunity to set yourself up for success! Let’s explore why attending our orientation is the key to unlocking a fulfilling and thriving university experience.

Intro to Online Student Support

We want to make sure your time at Southern Miss is reinforced with our incredible student resources. This will be your first opportunity to learn about all the ways our university will support you as you earn your degree.

Canvas and SOAR Tutorials

As an online student, Canvas and SOAR will be your most important tools. During orientation, you will be shown how to use each of these programs. You will know exactly what to expect once you’re ready to register for classes and when the semester starts.

Convenience of Online

Our online orientation is catered towards you, the online student! You can join from the comfort of your own home; you do not have to come to campus. (Although we do invite you to take a campus tour!) We also offer multiple opportunities to participate in orientation, so you can pick the best time that fits your schedule.

Become a Golden Eagle
This will be your introduction to The University of Southern Mississippi! In this section, we offer a variety of extras to help welcome you to the community. Some of these extras can include a virtual meet-and-greet with our professional staff for even more tips for success, or a chance to win official USM merch!

Orientation is a great event to ask any questions you have leading up to class registration. Our main objective is to set you up for success! So, bring your questions and we’ll bring answers. This is your opportunity to get a head start, so take full advantage of our online orientation.
