    • Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
    • NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

  • Bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.0 or higher in the last 62 hours of coursework

Degree Requirements

Comprehensive Exam

A comprehensive exam is required for all master’s students and must be passed before proceeding to graduation. A 3.0 GPA is required for graduation.

Course requirements (36 hrs minimum)

  • KIN 604 – Advanced Motor Development 3 hrs.
  • KIN 606 – Motor Learning 3 hrs.
  • KIN 609 – Sport Psychology 3 hrs.
  • KIN 644 – Foundations and Trends in Human Performance and Recreation 3 hrs.
  • KIN 670 – Organizational Leadership and Management in Sport 3 hrs.
  • KIN 672 – Advanced Development of Strength and Conditioning Programs 3 hrs.
  • KIN 675 – Advanced Sport Coaching Methodology 3 hrs.
  • KIN 677 – Legal Aspects of Sport 3 hrs.
  • KIN 680 – Research Techniques I 3 hrs.
  • KIN 681 – Research Techniques II 3 hrs.
  • KIN 684 – Sport Skill Analysis 3 hrs.

Core requirements total: 33 hours

Students must select either thesis or nonthesis option.

  • Thesis Option:
  • KIN 698 – Thesis 1-6 hrs. For a total of 6 hrs.
  • or
  • Nonthesis Option:
  • KIN 696 – Practicum 1-6 hrs. (3 hrs. required)

The online Sport Coaching Education Degree program is designed for students who work and want to go to school part-time. We offer two courses a semester (fall, spring, summer), with the goal of each student graduating in two years.

What is the deadline for registering for classes?

What is the minimum number of classes that I can take to be considered full-time?

You must enroll in at least 12 credit hours in order to have full-time status in the spring and fall semesters and at least 9 credit hours in order to have full-time status in the summer semester for the online Sport Coaching Education Degree.

Does enrollment in the online Sport Coaching Education Degree program follow the standard academic calendar?

Yes, you’ll start and end classes on the same date as the in-person students do.

Will there be any courses that have face-to-face requirements?

No, none of the classes in the online Sport Coaching Education Degree program have face-to-face requirements.



Are the exams required to be proctored?

It is up to the instructor of a course if exams require a proctor. You should always read the content in the syllabus and on-line course site to determine if a proctor is needed.
