As a student in the Accelerated Master’s program, you can get a master’s degree as quickly as one year. This program lets you begin working on the course requirements of your master’s degree as an undergraduate student. After graduation, your remaining coursework can be completed in one year!

Undergraduate students will develop a strong foundation and discover new theories and expertise in infant and child development, early literacy, health and safety standards, and other areas you’ll need for your career. As you progress through the curriculum you’ll learn more advanced skills that will allow you to make a difference in the home life. Once you’ve started the graduate courses, you’ll explore advanced family theories, intimate relationship building, and the role family plays from childhood through all stages of life. And you can do it all in only 5 years!

Admission Requirements

To participate in the Child and Family Sciences Accelerated Master’s program, you will first need to enroll in Child and Family Sciences BS program. Once you’re admitted, you and your advisor can map out a plan and schedule your transition into the Accelerated Master’s program.

Undergraduate students seeking admission to the AMO option must have a minimum 3.5 undergraduate GPA on at least 90 hours and have completed the following CFS courses with no grade lower than a B: CD 350, FAM 351, FAM 150, CD 352, and any 400-level FAM or CD course.

The following is required from all undergraduate applicants:

Application for Undergraduate Admission
$45 non-refundable application fee
An official high school transcript for freshman (high school) applicants OR official transcripts from all institutions attended after high school for transfer applicants
Submission of ACT or SAT scores for freshman (high school) applicants
Documentation of two doses of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) immunization. Upload a copy of your proof of immunization.

Program Academic Policies and Requirements:

Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing to transfer.
Students must earn a grade of C or higher in all library science courses.
Student must also earn a minor in another field of study is recommended.
